THE OLYMPIC CLUB

Seattle · Est. 1942

Real conversation, every Thursday.

Who We Are

Since 1942, we've met every Thursday to get better at talking to each other — speaking without notes, giving honest feedback, and truly listening. No phones, no small talk. Just real conversation.

In Troubled Times

We live in an age of shouting — hot takes and cold shoulders, algorithms that reward outrage over understanding. The Olympic Club is our counterweight: real people, face to face, practicing the harder, better way to talk.

What We Hold Sacred

Four things we protect every time we gather.

  • Courage — the bravery to speak without a script, and to be changed by what we hear.

  • Presence — no phones, no multitasking. When someone speaks, we listen, fully.

  • Equity of Voice — every member gets the same time and the same respect.

  • Transformation — we come not to confirm what we already believe, but to be challenged by it.

Disciplines

Every lunch has four parts.

  • Topic Master — ninety seconds, no notes, whatever comes to mind.

  • Prepared Speeches — two members share something that matters to them.

  • Critique — honest, specific feedback, given and received.

  • Conversation — real talk to close, no small talk.

"The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed." — Carl Jung
